Claudel, at first, is a family story. Our son had his first pair of glasses when he was 18 months old and I was a little bit surprised by the lack of choices we faced. I was surprised not to find a pair that looked like what Camille and I like to wear.
We appreciate nice products with simple and elegant matters.
That is how the desire of creating a frame that fitted our wishes grew as an evidence. Glasses with an urban appearance but totally designed to go to the mountain, the sea and all kinds of « sporty » activities.
The challenge was to propose a frame for the 1 to 4 years old that combines ergonomics and elegance.
I started my researches of designers, glasses makers, mold makers, frame decorators with the objective to be surrounded by the best craftsmen.
This aera being foreign to me, I had to investigate a lot to find the best solutions in terms of technic and aesthetic. It is through Claudel that I am hugely proud to present you a unique frame, suitable for kids up to the age of 4 years old. The scale is the model around which I articulated everything. The region of Jura being the historical French cradle of the eyewear, it is quite naturally that I decided to produce it there.
Made in France
The value chain is almost entirely French. I did not choose that for marketing purposes, but simply because our French craftsmen have an exceptional know-how. For our children, I want no compromise.
1/ soft hinges. It is made to exert an inward pressure, which allows a perfect cordless hold. A cord is provided.
2/ Ergonomic nasal support.Just like adults, the frame has a high bridge. However, the nose of the children is not developed at this age, so we designed this very discreet piece to make the frame fit perfectly on their nose.
3/ Glasses and frame of category 3. The glasses are made for every outdoor activities with high exposure. However, the higher category is made for glacier exhibits, and, I suppose that at this age, your children won’t climb the Everest. The lenses are treated against shocks in order to avoid scratches.
4/ Overmolding on the branches. I created an overmolding that gives your child more comfort and grip on the areas in contact with the skin.
5/ Design manufacture and assembly Made In France.
6/ With the glass are provided : a gift box, a pocket to protect and clean it and a cord.
Claudel was Camille’s nickname when I met her as a student in Chile. A brazilian friend gave her this nickname. I loved it. I also like the sound and the artistic evocation of Claudel.
